Pesto is a true flavor enhancer that can be used in countless dishes, from pasta and sandwiches to salads. Homemade pesto is not only much tastier than store-bought varieties, but it's also free from unnecessary additives like sugar, sunflower oil, and fillers. In this recipe, you'll learn how to make a pure, creamy pesto in just 5 minutes!
Why Homemade Pesto?
Healthier: No artificial additives, just pure ingredients.
More Flavor: Fresh basil and toasted pine nuts create an intense taste experience.
Easily Customizable: Play with the ingredients to perfect the pesto to your taste.
Ingredients:
200 grams of basil
25 grams of Parmesan cheese
35 grams of pine nuts
75 ml of extra virgin olive oil
Pinch of (Celtic) sea salt
Instructions:
Grate the Parmesan cheese and set it aside. Use more cheese for a stronger flavor.
Toast the pine nuts in a dry pan until golden brown. Keep an eye on them as they brown quickly!
Wash the basil and pick the leaves.
Blend all the ingredients in a food processor or use an immersion blender. Add olive oil until the pesto reaches your desired consistency.
Season with a pinch of salt, and you’re done!
Storing:
Store the pesto in a glass jar in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for 1 to 2 weeks.
Tips to Perfect Your Pesto:
More pine nuts? A nuttier flavor.
Extra Parmesan? A richer, saltier taste.
More olive oil? A softer, more fluid pesto.
Enjoy!
